Wilma is Coming
It’s been a bad year for hurricanes, a bad two years actually.
Hurricane Wilma has of course been all over the news, and Tampa Bay happens to be not far from the middle of its currently projected flight path. We’re not expected to see landfall until early next week, but I expect that it will be a rainy weekend in the mean time. I just hope some of the scientists are correct in predicting that this massive storm will slow down a decent amount before it gets near the coast of Florida.

While hurricanes routinely cause massive damage in certain parts of Florida, the danger is not the same as what the nation witnessed in New Orleans. Besides the fact that we are a little more used to hurricanes dropping by (and therefore generally more prepared), there simply isn’t the risk of long-standing high water. Since cities like Tampa are not built inside a natural bowl, flood waters will generally recede once the storm passes.
Unfortunately, if the worst case scenario does occur and my area is damaged to the point of losing power, Acne-Vitamins may have to shut down operations until electricity is restored. I cannot very well run and internet company without access to the internet ^_^. All our data is stored on servers in California and New York, and our manufacturing is handled in New York, so the loss would not affect our customers or the long-term operations of the business. However, I would have to disable sales for a little while until things got back to normal. I may in fact do this over the weekend depending on how close the storm is on Sunday, as I don’t want the website to be accepting orders that we cannot process and send in our usual timely manner.
I’ll post an update as the storm moves closer, but in the meantime please keep us and all of Florida in your prayers.
